Separators, while highly efficient, will not remove 100% of the oil from the air stream. Further coalescing filters downstream are normally required to remove minute particles of oil and water which migrate through the separator.

General air coalescing is when total removal of liquid aerosols and suspended fines is required in the pressure range from 60 to 150 psig.
